Purpose The purpose of this position is to oversee the implementation of Restorative Practices by the Institute for Restorative Justice and Restorative Dialogue in Austin Independent School District for ten elementary and middle schools. 

Essential Functions Coordinate RP training for school administrators, educators, service providers, Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Facilitators and Specialists, RP Coordinators (Campus Level Associates), students and support staff. Hire and coach trainers and oversee accounting system for paying trainers. Serve as trainer/lead trainer for the RP training. Provide weekly consultation on RP and the implementation process to the district level RP Coordinator and monthly consultation to Leadership Response Teams from each of ten schools. Coordinate efforts with AISD representatives including the Coordinator of Cultural Proficiency, Inclusiveness and Restorative Practices and SEL specialists to align RP training with SEL and the culturally-responsive pedagogy being used in the district to identify and address root causes of disparities in exclusionary discipline. Coordinate with AIR in their development of measures to evaluate the implementation of RP at the ten schools. Assist AISD in the dispersal of knowledge about the RP implementation process to other schools in the district. Assist AISD in the dissemination of project findings through the IRJRD website, media and publications.

Required qualifications A Master's degree in a related field of specialization and six years of experience. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. 

Preferred Qualifications Graduate degree in education, social work, law, criminal justice, conflict resolution or related field. Previous experience with Restorative Practices in schools, special education, primary and secondary schools, and juvenile justice plus training and curriculum development background. Strong organizational skills, self-motivated, detail oriented, superior written and oral communication skills, and community-based orientation.

A criminal history background check will be required for finalist(s) under consideration for this position. 

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas ( TRS ), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program ( ORP ) instead of TRS , subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
