Navis is a leading software company specializing in building and implementing products to manage and optimize marine container terminal operations. Navis delivers enterprise software solutions with advanced algorithms for decision-making optimization and pursues innovation in the areas of robotic automation applied to container terminal operations.

 

We have a position for a talented and motivated Technical Product Owner who is skilled in enterprise technologies and understands how our products can add great value to our market vertical. This position requires the ability to work with a team of Product Owners and Engineers in order to create designs that will continue leading the way in the marine container terminal and adjacent industries, as well as experience managing customer and partner relationships in order to provide the highest possible degree of service relative to our solutions. The Product Owner will join our team in our Oakland office.


The Product Owner role requires significant engagement with customers and stakeholders to understand the needs of Navis’ market, and should ideally come from a strong technical background. Independent research and collaboration with Product Marketing are also key in order to develop a clear vision of near and medium term industry demands, relative size of market opportunities, and potential white spaces for us to fill with our solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Be the product owner for the product advanced features.
  • Work with our Engineering department to develop new solutions and features.
  • Develop and maintain an appropriately prioritized backlog of user stories for implementation.
  • Work with scrum teams to ensure that they understand the vision for the product in order to design great features for our customers.
  • Work with our Quality Engineers to create a meaningful test strategy for each new feature owned by the team.
  • Actively participate in the downstream implementation process within container terminals in order to understand priorities for solution improvement and to manage customer expectations and drive for customer success. This may involve participation in workshops, triage meetings, and customer site visits where appropriate to ensure the commercial success of the product line.
  • Provide regular communication to Navis field operations on changes in the container terminal market relative to Navis investment in this area.
  • Work with key stakeholders across the company to ensure successful product releases.

Qualifications:

  • Strong technical background, preferably a Bachelor’s degree or Masters in Computer Science or Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience defining, building, and delivering mission critical SaaS products; container terminal software a plus.
  • Product Owner/ Management experience in the container terminal solutions, software for supply chain, logistics automation, or industrial automation systems domains a big plus.
  • Passion for making the complex simple and creating world class products that non-coders can implement and most importantly use.
  • Excellent customer management skills with the ability to develop consensus and align customer participation and sponsorship of Product functionality
  • Subject matter expertise in the area of container terminal.
  • Entrepreneurial focus on driving incremental product adoption based on customer value.
  • Experience working in an Agile development process is a strong preference.
  • Strong analytical and modeling skills with the ability to present a quantitate case for product investment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proven track record of high performance in a fast paced mission critical software environment.
  • Ability to travel as required up to 20%
