As a Web Engineer on the JavaScript team at GumGum, you’ll build and maintain a variety of web applications used by both internal and external users. You’ll have a real impact as you work on apps used every day across our company, and you’ll be part of a team that prioritizes skill sharing and learning. Our team currently uses technologies such as ES6, React, Node, Sequelize, Flux/Redux, Yarn, and Webpack.

You enjoy writing both native JavaScript and using JavaScript libraries and packages. You’re using ES6 and are comfortable building your own modules. You have a passion for delivering a great user experience that is simple, intuitive and scalable. You enjoy working in a highly collaborative environment, sharing, and contributing to our team’s collective knowledge, processes and code implementations.


  • Design, develop, and maintain new features and improvements for a variety of JavaScript web applications
  • Create new JavaScript web applications from the ground up
  • Extend and maintain APIs built with Sequelize, as well as use external APIs
  • Implement tests and ensure proper functionality and graceful degradation on multiple browsers
  • Collaborate with a variety of teams including Big Data, DevOps, Product and UX


  • Core understanding of JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
  • Experience with React and Flux/Redux, and Node.js
  • Use of Git, automation tools and command-line style of work
  • Comfortable using browser developer tools and build tools such as Webpack
  • Understanding of responsive design concepts and cross-browser compatibility
  • Strong communication skills


  • 2+ years of JavaScript experience
  • Interest in server side JavaScript, and DevOps tools such as Jenkins and Docker
  • Experience with TDD
  • Interest and experience in web and mobile advertising
