The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Software Developer to join the Product Systems Platform Build team in St. Louis, MO.

Candidates will have the opportunity to develop the core software systems and tools that enable Boeing engineers to design, model, build, and support the best products in aerospace today - and those that will take us into our Second Century. The Product Systems Platform Build team provides comprehensive software solutions to rapidly access and visually transform complex engineering and manufacturing product data.

This position will allow candidates to develop valuable software solutions using modern Extreme Programming (XP) practices (e.g. pair programming, test-driven development, continuous integration, continuous deployment, build and test automation, etc.).

This position will allow candidates to work with a diverse team of skilled and motivated co-workers to collaborate on results. Strong verbally and written communication skills are required to interact with peers and business partners. Candidate should have a positive attitude, be self-motivated, have the ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Development and integration for a variety of Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) and in house software application supporting our engineering/manufacturing teams.
  • Complete software development tasks and activities in a highly collaborative, agile team to support design specifications, requirements framing, solution development, and test scripting and automation.
  • Promote the team's adoption and continuous improvement of modern software engineering best practices (XP, pairing, test driven development, unit testing, continuous integration, etc.).
  • Utilize and implement software design patterns and code for reuse, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Develop effective, defect free, high-quality source code that meets business requirements and team standards
  • Modify or upgrade applications to maintain software functionality.
  • Document, validate, and research reported technical problems.
  • Provide assistance to design, develop, and execute test plans.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • Minimum Bachelor's Technical Degree
  • Classroom or work related programming experience with programming languages like C++ and/or Java development
  • Understands and develops software solutions to meet end user's requirements.
  • Classroom or work related experience with the Software Development lifecycle (including Requirements Analysis, Design, Code, Integration & Test)
  • Experience in using data structures and algorithms
  • Ability to participate in all stages of the software development life cycle.
  • Must have excellent debugging and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • Ability to synthesize software architectures and designs that meet requirements, characteristics and constraints
  • Experience with real-time software architecture and design methodologies
  • Analysis and Design (OOAD) understanding and a good understanding of design patterns.
  • Classroom or work related programming experience with programming languages like C.

Typical Education/Experience:
Technical bachelor's degree. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.
